Cotton creates the dense, flexible character associated with traditional floor mattresses. Adding latex changes the feel by introducing greater resilience and cushioning while maintaining a relatively low-profile design.
The best construction depends on whether you want a more traditional firm surface or additional pressure relief and responsiveness from latex.
A Flexible Sleep System
One of the advantages of a Shikibuton is its versatility. Its thinner profile makes it suitable for floor sleeping, compact rooms, guest accommodations, and other spaces where a conventional mattress and bed frame may not be practical.
