Latex and memory foam are very different materials and it’s a challenge to compare them to each other.

NATURAL LATEX TOPPER

Natural latex is highly resilient, and has a more "on the mattress" feel to it, and responds to pressure.
What you feel on latex stays the same over time.
Natural latex is more breathable and tends to sleep cooler than memory foam.
natural latex also comes in a wider range of firmness levels (ILD) than memory foam.
Natural latex in general is also a more "supportive" material (gets firmer as you compress it more deeply) than memory foam.

Memory foam on the other hand has very low resilience, has a more "in the mattress" feel to it
It changes its feel and response with pressure, temperature, humidity, and length of time it is subject to compression forces.
Memory foam is more motion restricting while latex is more resilient and doesn't restrict free movement on the mattress.
Is made mostly of synthetic materials

Both are good at motion isolation (not feeling your partner move in bed) because one area can compress without affecting the area around it, but memory foam is a little better at this because it has no resilience.

In conclusion... if your mattress is too firm and has no soft spots or dips in it, then a mattress topper is what you're looking for! As it will significantly improve the comfort of any old mattress and relieve your painful pressure points, guaranteed!

Should I add a 2" or 3" Memory Foam mattress topper to my bed?
If your mattress is really firm (feels hard), is straight (no hammock effect), and is just not relieving your pressure points any more, then here is what we suggest:

CHOOSE A 2" TOPPER (most popular):

If you weigh less than 250 lbs, a 2" topper will help relieve pressure points for all sleepers (side, back or stomach)
If your mattress is generally comfortable, but is no longer giving you the soft cushiony feeling you like.
If you prefer to have pressure relief while remaining on top of your mattress. (sleeps cooler)

CHOOSE A 3" TOPPER:

If you weigh over 250 lbs, then a 3" topper will give you better pressure relief.
If your a side sleeper and weight less than 250 lbs but enjoy sinking into the mattress & being wrapped and cradled by the foam. (sleeps warmer)
If you really want the softest sleeping surface possible.

A Note on 4 inch toppers:
In our 20 year experience, we do not recommend 4 inch thick memory foam toppers, except in special cases were the person weights over 300lbs, or if you are going to place it on a hard foam mattress. A 4 inch topper, is too much foam for most applications, and may cause severe back problems, and makes rolling around in bed a chore.
