Step 2 - Choose your transition and comfort layers
A mattress comfort layer is a layer of material that is placed on top of the support core of a mattress. Its primary function is to provide comfort and pressure relief to the sleeper. The comfort layer is usually made of latex, foam, such as memory foam or HR foam. The thickness and density of the comfort layer can vary to achieve different levels of comfort and support. The comfort layer is an important factor in determining the overall feel and comfort of a mattress. Some mattresses have multiple comfort layers with different materials and thicknesses to provide a more customized and comfortable sleeping experience.
Foam / Latex comfort layers are designed to be placed on top or in the centre (as a transition layer) of your DIY mattress. They offer comfort to your do it yourself bed while reducing painful pressure points. Do it yourself and choose from 3lb memory foam, organic dunlop latex or 2.75lb HR (high resilience foam).
