A duvet is the softest, lightest, most comfortable, bed covering there is. A high quality duvet will be, a pleasure to use each and every night as it floats, over you like a warm cloud. The higher the quality of, a duvet, the more comfortable it will be. It will feel, more light and airy. It will be cozier in the winter, and cooler in the summer.

Lajord  Canadian white goose down comes from a unique goose farm located in southern Saskatchewan Canada, where traditional Hutterite farmers take great care in raising free-range geese. These beautiful geese are raised to maturity and produce beautiful down, which St Genève purchases all of each year.

The Lajord duvet is one of our most popular duvets, and rightly so. The combination of the light, fluffy 850 loft* down and a satiny smooth 400 TC 100% cotton ticking gives the duvet just the right amount of billowy comfort.

Tradition of Luck
There is an old Scandinavian tradition: when a young woman married, her parents would bless the happy couple with a new down-filled duvet and pillow set. This set would have been lovingly handmade for the couple by the bride's mother. To ensure a happy and prosperous life for the newlyweds, a coin was sewn inside the duvet.

At St Genève, we are proud to continue this tradition. Every duvet St Genève makes has a coin sewn inside; a wish of health and prosperity from our family to yours.

All duvets are made to order, using sizing that is specific to St. Genève.

*Fill Power AKA "Loft"

The difference between downs can be measured objectively by fill power, also referred to as ‘Loft.’ Loft is the measure of fluffiness of a down, and is also a good way to gauge the quality of the down. Loft refers to the number of cubic inches that one ounce of down fills. A higher loft value indicates a high quality of down. You’ll notice that a quality down comforter with high loft, like those made at St. Genève, will be light and fluffy and unbelievably warm. Each ounce of high quality down has about 2 million fluffy filaments that interlock and overlap to create pockets that trap warm air and keep cold air out. These tiny pockets are what create down’s incredible insulatory properties. Loft is tested in a lab under specific conditions – such as temperature and humidity – that can be recreated. The more mature the bird, the higher the loft. In addition, the filaments found in high quality, mature down are much stronger. Products with lower loft come from younger, immature birds and have weak, brittle down that will break down and need to be replaced much sooner.

Sustainability

The, purchase of these duvets supports Canadian farmers, processors, and ultimately, the Canadian economy. We are proud to offer this sustainable option for down. We are committed to ensuring that all of our down comes from free-range, family-run farms and is collected ethically. As members of the Down Association of Canada, St. Genève is also subject to regular audits.

We strongly recommend using a clean duvet cover and changing it often.
