What is the difference between Dunlop and Talalay latex?
Dunlop and Talalay are two different methods of manufacturing latex foam. Both can produce high-quality, durable latex for mattresses, but they generally have different feels.
Dunlop latex is denser, firmer and more supportive. It has a more grounded feel with less bounce, making it particularly well suited to support and transition layers.
Talalay latex has a lighter, more responsive feel. It compresses more easily and has more bounce, which is why it is commonly used in comfort layers and mattresses designed for greater pressure relief.
The manufacturing process isn't the only factor that affects how latex feels. Natural rubber content is equally important. For example, blended Talalay made with natural and synthetic rubber is generally softer than 100% natural Talalay. A soft blended Dunlop can also feel softer than a firmer 100% natural Talalay.
Neither process is inherently better. The right choice depends on the feel, firmness and support you're looking for.
What is the difference between Natural and Synthetic rubber?
Natural and synthetic latex can both be used to make durable, responsive mattress foam, but they differ in where the rubber comes from and how the finished latex feels.
Natural latex is made from natural rubber harvested from rubber trees. Synthetic latex is made from petrochemical-derived rubber, most commonly styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR). Many latex products use a blend of natural and synthetic rubber rather than being entirely one or the other.
Natural rubber generally produces a denser, firmer and more supportive latex foam. Adding
synthetic rubber can create a softer, more yielding feel. This means natural content can affect mattress feel just as much as whether the latex is made using the Dunlop or Talalay process.
A higher natural content isn't automatically the right choice for every sleeper. The best option depends on your priorities for feel, support, natural materials and price.

Yes. Natural latex has a mild, distinctive rubber-like smell, especially when it is new. This is the natural scent of the latex itself and does not mean the mattress is off-gassing harmful chemicals.
Most people describe the smell as slightly sweet, rubbery or vanilla-like. It is generally most noticeable when a new mattress, topper or pillow is first unpacked and gradually becomes less noticeable with exposure to fresh air.
Because latex has its own natural scent, some smell may remain if you put your nose directly against the latex foam. However, once the latex is inside a mattress cover and bedding is added, most people don't notice it during normal use.
The strength of the scent can vary between different types and batches of latex. If you're particularly sensitive to smells, allowing the mattress to air out in a well-ventilated room before use can help.
What does an Organic Dunlop latex topper feel like?

We ordered a queen 3" Dunlop latex topper last year through Mario and we are thoroughly enjoying it. Our 10-year-old mattress had become quite firm over time, but the 3" topper has transformed it into a wonderfully soft and plush bed. We may end up keeping our old mattress for a few more years. The only negative was the delivery process, as UPS had misplaced the box and it took 2 weeks for them to find it and get it to us. I have never had any problem sleeping, and even brag that I can sleep on the stairs. The all-cotton futon I've loved for years had started to feel like a park bench, however, and shopping around online for a replacement was confusing. An organic topper seemed a reasonable improvement to start with. After sleeping on it I have 2 regrets: -- that I didn't do this sooner, and -- that I did not buy a full, instead of a twin. The second is easy to fix, and I'll be back at some point to do that, while, in the meantime, waking each morning refreshed, not compressed. I'm truly amazed by the difference. It's EXACTLY what was needed. I absolutely and fully recommend this company and this product.

Got this latex topper for Christmas. It's a quality product compared to the memory foam I was using and made my firm mattress very comfortable.
This natural latex mattress topper is amazing. I've had it for a few months now. It's so comfortable and my sleep is deeper. I don't wake up feeling like I need to stretch aching muscles anymore. It does smell like latex though and the smell takes getting used to at first, but it eventually dissipates. I'm happy to have found a natural topper from a Canadian business.

I enjoy ultra soft mattresses. We were given a hard mattress as a "gift" and so we needed to put something on top of it to make it softer. I put the 3 inch Soft topper on top of the very hard mattress. If you have a very very sensitive (but relatively pain free) back like I do, and you're wondering if you should choose memory foam or latex... perhaps choose memory foam. Because I can feel the latex pushing back at me; latex is very resilient whereas memory foam contours to your body. However, eventually I got kind of used to it. But I wish there was an even softer topper - that would be most ideal. The quality is great, and the faint smell of latex is quickly hidden when you put your mattress protector and bed sheets over top of it. One way to improve this product is for the latex to be certified by Fair Rubber, or for Nature's Embrace to create specific initiatives for improving the lives of the people who harvest the rubber. Fair Rubber, a fair trade certification, helps ensure that the farmers are paid a fair price and the people in those communities are supported by a fair trade premium - so not just environmental sustainability but ethical sustainability as well.
I needed a replacement for my Dux Xupport top mattress and didn't want to pay Dux's ridiculous price. Mario set me up with a soft 2" latex topper, plus a quilted cover - organic cotton filled with wool. (The quilted wool-filled cover is not on the website, but available if you ask.) Despite the custom order, it was shipped quickly and arrived within a few days. The quality is great, better than the original Dux product. I purchased a 3" soft dunlop latex topper to help alleviate hip problems that my current mattress was not addressing. After two weeks of sleeping on this topper I can now say I CAN FINALLY SLEEP through the night!! The latex topper is soft but still supportive. It arrived nicely wrapped and with very little odor. I recently purchased two of the 2 inch extra long twin organic Dunlop latex mattress toppers for our California King bed (one medium and one soft). I am most pleased to report that my husband and I have not slept so well in years! The toppers have transformed our uncomfortable standard spring mattress to an extremely comfortable mattress. In the past 5 years or so I have purchased two toppers and they are still going strong. Recently purchased two foam mattresses and they are really comfortable. A great Canadian company with great products.
Mario was great at helping me choose the mattress topper that would fit my needs (dunlop latex 20 ILD). I was unsure if this purchase would make a difference as past cheaper toppers for other mattreses were terrible. I was also a bit nervous spending a few hundred dollars on something sight unseen. But, my first topper came and what a difference! I was sleeping through the night AND no pressure points/aches the next morning! It really is a superior product-best decision ever! I really prefer the latex to memory foam. I have a king made of 2 twin xl mattresses and with the first topper being such a success I purchased a second so the whole bed is perfect now.
