Start Simple. Build When You Need To.
Simple
Start with the foundation. A supportive core can be all some sleepers need, giving you a complete mattress without unnecessary layers or materials.
Adaptable
Build around your comfort. Add transition or comfort layers when you need more pressure relief, a different feel or a more gradual progression in support.
Modular
Change individual components. A layered construction lets you adjust or replace specific parts of your mattress rather than starting over with an entirely new sleep system.

Firm, Stable Support
High-density foam provides a stable and economical foundation with a firmer, more grounded feel. Its consistent resistance makes it a straightforward starting point for a wide range of DIY mattress builds.
Choose a 4-inch core when you want more room for transition and comfort layers, or a 6-inch core when you want a thicker foundation that can be used on its own or with fewer layers above.
Available in 4" and 6".

High-resilience foam creates a more elastic and responsive foundation than conventional high-density foam. It provides strong underlying support with additional cushioning and quicker recovery, making it a versatile choice for sleepers who want a more responsive foam foundation.
Choose 4 inches for greater flexibility when building a multi-layer mattress or 6 inches when you want the core to play a larger role in the overall feel.
Available in 4" and 6".

Naturally Responsive Support
GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex creates a dense, durable and naturally responsive foundation. Its grounded feel provides strong underlying support while retaining the elasticity and resilience that distinguish latex from conventional foam.
Dunlop is particularly well suited to sleepers who want a supportive all-latex mattress or a durable foundation for additional latex comfort layers.
Available as a 6" core.

Softer, Buoyant Support
Classic Talalay creates a lighter, more buoyant foundation with greater cushioning and give than Dunlop. Its softer character allows pressure relief to begin deeper within the mattress while retaining the quick, responsive feel Talalay is known for.
It is a good starting point for sleepers who want a softer, more conforming all-latex sleep system.
Available as a 6" core.

Buoyant with More Support
Natural Talalay combines the lively, responsive character of Talalay with a firmer and more supportive feel than Classic Talalay. It provides a buoyant foundation that contours without the denser, more grounded response of Dunlop.
It is well suited to sleepers who want the responsiveness of Talalay with stronger underlying support.
Available as a 6" core.

Responsive, Edge-to-Edge Support
Individually wrapped pocket coils respond independently to the body, providing responsive support while helping reduce motion transfer. Built-in edge support creates a stronger, more usable perimeter without relying on polyurethane foam rails, while the open coil construction promotes airflow through the mattress.
The 7-inch pocket coil core is designed to be paired with one comfort layer, creating a simple polyurethane foam-free hybrid construction.
Available as a 7" core.

Included With Every Core
Every DIY Mattress Core comes enclosed in a Bamboo cover with a bottom zipper. The streamlined cover protects the core without adding heavy quilting or significantly changing how the material feels.
Use the covered core on its own as a simple mattress where appropriate, or leave the Bamboo cover in place as you add layers above it to create a thicker sleep system.
Please note the Bamboo fabric may have a different pattern than shown.

How to Choose Your Mattress Core
Your core establishes the underlying support and character of the entire mattress. The layers above can add pressure relief and change the surface feel, but the response of the foundation will continue to influence the finished mattress.
Start by choosing the type of support you prefer. Foam creates a stable and versatile foundation, latex adds greater elasticity and responsiveness, while pocket coils provide the familiar lift and movement of a spring-supported mattress.

Stable, Versatile & Adaptable
Choose foam when you want a stable foundation with the greatest flexibility for building your mattress. High-Density Foam provides a firmer, more grounded feel, while High Resilience Foam adds greater elasticity, cushioning and response.
Both are available in 4-inch and 6-inch cores. Choose 4 inches when you want more room for transition and comfort layers above, or 6 inches for a more substantial foundation that can be used on its own or with fewer additional layers.

Responsive & Durable
Choose latex when you want the core itself to contribute more responsiveness and natural elasticity to the mattress. Organic Dunlop provides the densest and most grounded latex foundation, Classic Talalay provides the softest and most buoyant, while Natural Talalay combines Talalay's buoyancy with greater support.
All latex cores are 6 inches thick and can be used on their own or combined with additional layers

Buoyant, Edge-to-Edge Support
Choose pocket coils when you prefer the lift and response of a spring-supported mattress. Individually wrapped coils respond independently, help reduce motion transfer and promote airflow, while built-in edge support creates a stronger, more usable perimeter without polyurethane foam rails.
The pocket coil core is 7 inches thick and designed to be paired with a comfort layer to create a simple DIY hybrid mattress.

Build Your Mattress
Start With Your Core. Build From There.
Every DIY mattress starts with a supportive core. From there, you can keep things simple or add layers to create more pressure relief, a smoother transition and a more customized feel.
We recommend building with a maximum of 10 inches of internal mattress material. Your core thickness determines how much room you have to work with, so choosing the core is also choosing how much flexibility you want when building above it.

1. Choose Your Core
Core Thickness Matters
The core provides the primary support for your body and establishes the foundation of the mattress. The thickness you choose also determines how much room you have for additional layers.
A 4-inch foam core provides the greatest flexibility and can be combined with two or three additional layers. A 6-inch foam or latex core can be used on its own or with one or two additional layers. Our 7-inch pocket coil core is designed to be paired with one comfort layer.

2. Add a Transition Layer
Create a Smoother Progression
A transition layer sits between the supportive core and softer comfort materials above. It creates a more gradual change in resistance, helping prevent you from moving too quickly through a soft surface layer and reaching the firmer core underneath.
Transition layers are 2 inches thick and can be used when additional depth or support is needed beneath the comfort layer. Not every mattress needs one. Especially if you're looking fr a firmer feel. Only add a transition layer when it improves the progression of support rather than simply to increase mattress thickness.

3. Add Your Comfort Layer
Fine-Tune Pressure Relief
The comfort layer has the greatest influence on how the mattress feels when you first lie down. It provides contouring and pressure relief around the shoulders, hips and other pressure points while working with the support and transition layers underneath.
Comfort layers are available in 2-inch and 3-inch thicknesses. Choose 2 inches when you want more influence from the layers underneath, or 3 inches when you want deeper pressure relief and a more substantial comfort surface.

4. Finish With a Cover
Bring Your Layers Together
Once you have built your sleep system, our Tencel top-zippered mattress cover brings the individual components together into a finished mattress. Designed to accommodate 8 to 10 inches of material, the top zipper provides easy access to the layers inside so they can be rearranged or replaced as your comfort needs change.
The smooth, non-quilted surface keeps you closely connected to the feel of the materials underneath while giving your DIY build the fit and finish of a complete mattress.

FAQ
Have questions about latex mattresses? Explore straightforward answers about materials, construction, firmness, care, and choosing the right mattress for you.
Can I use these components to build a complete mattress?
Yes. Our DIY system lets you combine a support core, transition layer and comfort layer to create your own mattress. Components can also be used individually to modify an existing sleep system.
Do I need a core, transition layer and comfort layer?
Not necessarily. The three-part system is a useful starting point, but your build can be simpler depending on the materials you choose and the comfort you're trying to achieve.
How thick should my DIY mattress be?
Most complete DIY builds are between 8" and 10" inside the mattress cover. If you want additional comfort beyond that, a separate mattress topper can be added above the finished mattress.
How do I choose the right firmness?
Start with the support you need at the bottom and work toward greater pressure relief at the surface. Firmer materials generally work best deeper in the mattress, while softer materials are typically used closer to the body.
Can I change my DIY mattress later?
Yes. That's one of the main advantages of a modular mattress. Individual layers can be rearranged, exchanged or replaced without replacing the entire mattress.
Can I use a DIY layer with my existing mattress?
Yes. All components can be used independently or in combination with each other. Comfort layers can add pressure relief, transition layers can modify the feel of a sleep system, and cores can provide the foundation for a new build.
What cover do I need?
DIY cores and individual layers include simple protective covers where applicable. If you're combining multiple components into a complete mattress, our top-zippered Tencel mattress cover is available for 8" to 10" builds and keeps the layers together as one finished mattress.

just received mine. couple of things that aren't mentioned is that the foam compartments are zippered. this makes cleaning it way easier as well as replacing the foam if its starts to wear. the chosen foam density is really nice. perfect! the random color i got was purple which isn't displayed on the website but its nice! very good for the price!
I am a big person and regular memory/hybrid mattresses don't work for me no matter the brand or price (Casper, Logan and cove hybrid). I have gone for the most expensive ones and I destroy them after 1 year of normal use. This one is a winner. I have a king size bed with a $5K natural/latex mattress and this one with a 3 inch firm latex topper has the same or better feel. I can't recommend more this product and company. You guys delivered what I needed and will save my back, my health and ultimately my life. Super happy customer here.
Ordered 2 custom cut RV mattresses in 4" HD Firm grade. My "RV Queen" is 4 inches shorter than std. The RV King is 10 inches shorter. Both packages arrived quickly and together. Both items were cut exactly as I asked for. Just back from first use - took a 4-day weekend - excellent results from all concerned. TIP: We used a milk bag cutter to unseal the plastic wrap. the blade is recessed and cannot catch the mattress. Couldn't be more pleased . Thanks all round D. Jennings Richmond Hill ON
I am thrilled with my new bed! After years of disappointment with store-bought mattresses, I decided to build my own. With the assistance of Mario, I chose a 6" firm HD core, a 2" HR medium transition layer, and a 2" HR soft top.I wrapped it all up in a Tencel cover. The layers and cover arrived in individual boxes and the assembly was simple. As a side and back sleeper this combination of layers is perfect for me and i like the fact that I can replace a layer in the future if ever need be.
In the past 5 years or so I have purchased two toppers and they are still going strong. Recently purchased two foam mattresses and they are really comfortable. A great Canadian company with great products.
Hi, just got my folding bed and could not be happier! It is perfectly firm and I even love the colour. Thank you so much!!! fast delivery too. Thanks again
Hi Mario, I apologize for the huge delay in writing you. I received the HR foam mattress and boxspring platform many weeks ago. First I would like to commend the shipping company as the delivery person was amazing with helping to get everything safely into my parents front hallway. He really went beyond and was a great help to my parents (I was at work when it was delivered). Secondly the mattress is awesome!!! Thank you for helping me choose the HR foam. It is really high quality and supportive. As my daughter grows and she can articulate herself better I could see buying the latex toppers I have for myself to soften it a bit. But right now she is pleased as punch with her "big girl bed". And then the platform....holy smokes, it is rock solid! Â Way beyond my expectations of how well constructed it would be. Â I am sure I will never have to buy another boxspring platform again. Also the waterproof cover is fantastic o, the cool feeling it gives off helps regulate Lindsay's temperature as she sleeps. And I love how thin it is, sometimes covers are bulky and then bedsheets dont fit as well overtop. But this is great!!! I am absolutely thrilled with everything and your customer service is second to none. You have a customer for life!! All the best,
Good Day, I just received my custom mattress this morning and wanted to let you know that I am very happy with it. I followed your advice to choose a 30 ILD high density 6 inch foam mattress and you were right. Really comfortable, the cover is soft and perfectly fitted and the mattress fits perfectly in our RV. Adding the fast delivery, I can tell that I am truly satisfied of my order and will surely recommend your company to our friends and family. Thank you and have a nice day.
